Harassment Policy

Taiyou Con is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all attendees, guests, staff, and volunteers. Harassment, discrimination, stalking, or any inappropriate behavior—whether verbal, physical, or online—will not be tolerated.

Making A Report

If you experience or witness inappropriate behavior—including sexual misconduct, harassment, stalking, or discrimination—please report it immediately to a nearby staff member, or contact the Mesa Police Department (officers are on-site throughout the event). If you are unable to locate help, please go directly to Registration or email our Convention Director at jai [@] taiyoucon.com.

If the behavior involves a staff member:

Please report directly to a different staff member or contact the Convention Director at jai [@] taiyoucon.com. We take these reports seriously and will act promptly to investigate and respond.

If the behavior involves another attendee:

Report the incident to any staff member as soon as possible. They will document the incident and escalate it to a director. If needed, Mesa Police will be contacted to handle the situation.

Anonymous Reports

Yes, you can report anonymously. Please note that while we will do our best to respond, an anonymous report may limit the actions we’re able to take.

Reporting Process

  1. At least two staff members will escort the reporting individual to a safe, private location.
  2. Staff will listen, document the incident, and involve a director or law enforcement if needed.
  3. If the report involves a minor, staff will contact their legal guardian immediately.
  4. A member of leadership will follow up with the reporting individual about next steps and outcomes.
  5. Individuals involved may be removed from the event without refund depending on the severity of the violation.

Note: Serious or criminal misconduct will be handled directly by the on-site Mesa Police Department. In these cases, attendees may be permanently banned from future events.

Positive Attendee Experience

The safety and well-being of our attendees is our top priority. If you see or experience anything that could disrupt the event or cause harm to yourself or others, please report it to a Taiyou Con staff member immediately.

Taiyou Con reserves the right to remove any individual whose behavior negatively impacts the event, its operations, or the enjoyment of others.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Hate speech or discriminatory language
  2. Destruction or theft of property
  3. Excessive noise or disruptions
  4. Displaying offensive or inappropriate signs
  5. Unsolicited solicitation or promotion
  6. Protests that interfere with programming or crowd flow
  7. Obstruction of staff duties or convention operations

Individuals removed from the event will be documented and may be barred from future Taiyou Con events. Serious offenses may result in a police report being filed, and on-site Mesa Police officers will take over the situation as necessary.

After Hours Gatherings & Off-Site Activities

While Taiyou Con is proud to be a place where friendships are made and memories are shared, any gatherings or meetups outside of official convention programming are not affiliated with Taiyou Con—this includes hotel room hangouts, off-site dinners, or personal after-parties.

We do not permit the advertising or promotion of unofficial gatherings or room parties on convention grounds.

If an issue arises during a private, non-convention event—whether in a hotel room or elsewhere—it is the responsibility of the involved parties to contact hotel staff or local authorities. Taiyou Con staff will not intervene in off-site or non-sanctioned gatherings.

That said, Taiyou Con works closely with the hotel to maintain a safe and respectful environment. If an individual is removed from the hotel by hotel security or police, their convention badge may be revoked, and the incident will be documented for future reference.

Harassment on Social Media

  1. Taiyou Con’s social media pages are strictly for official event-related updates and for attendees participating in the event. Any behavior that disrupts the positive attendee experience will result in permanent removal from all Taiyou Con social media platforms.
  2. All public posts and comments are subject to approval. We appreciate your patience as we review pending submissions.
  3. Spam or off-topic posts will not be allowed. This includes (but isn’t limited to): product ads, promoting unrelated events, redirecting users to other platforms, legal matters, debates, political arguments, or any non-Taiyou Con-related content.
  4. Please avoid arguments, trolling, aggressive comments, negativity, drama-stirring, or promoting disruptive behavior. These actions, along with any attempts to encourage such behavior, will result in removal. We respect everyone’s right to their opinion—but keep it constructive and refer to Rule #1.
  5. Directly contacting Taiyou Con followers to solicit, sell, or harass is strictly prohibited. If you receive unwanted messages—whether it’s spam, harassment, or ticket-related—screenshot them and let us know. You can contact us via Facebook Messenger or email. We’ll forward them to the appropriate team. Depending on the situation, action may be taken both online and at the live event for safety and security.
  6. Staff, guests, judges, technicians, vendors, and other participants have all been asked to report harassment, rude comments, bullying, or unwanted messages. Reports will be documented. Our goal is to ensure everyone has a positive experience at Taiyou Con.
  7. Being removed from Taiyou Con social media does not automatically ban you from the convention, but serious or repeated offenses may result in a full event ban or involvement from law enforcement, depending on the nature of the issue.
  8. If you’re being harassed online in relation to Taiyou Con, take a screenshot and send it to us. We’re here to help.
