What are the rules of the gaming tournament?

This section states the general rules in order to provide the best experience possible for competitors in Taiyou Con Rumble (Hereby referred to as TCR). These rules are to make sure that in the event of a conflict we have the rules to go by so things don’t seem like they are personal against any player. Everyone who is competing in TCR are responsible for knowing these rules. For rules about Registration, Bracket Seeding, Match Play, Rules Enforcement and Disqualification are closely follow the rule set used by EVO which can be found here http://evo.shoryuken.com/tournament-rules/ .

 

Registration Rules:

  • A day badge to Taiyou Con is required in order to participate in TCR for that day.
  • A full weekend badge will cover all days.
  • Each game registration is $10.
  • Each participant in the overall tournament will get a FREE exclusive custom designed Taiyou Con Rumble t-shirt if registered by December 7, 2019. Not available for purchase.
  • Full event badges are to be purchased at the Taiyou Con website.

Prize bonus

Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator 2 + Dead or Alive 6 will  have their prize pools boosted by $100!

To celebrate Taiyou Con Rumble we will be starting a series of smaller tournaments leading up to Taiyou Con! We have labeled this Taiyou Con Rumble: Brawl! These events will be hosted by a variety of locations and will feature games that are to be played at Taiyou Con Rumble! Winner of the games at the brawl events will be given free entry to the game they won at Taiyou con rumble and a free day badge while still adding to the games overall pot!

Additional General Rules:

  • Game breaking glitches are banned and anyone caught in purposely causing a game breaking glitch will forfeit the match.
  • Winner must keep the same character / team and loser can switch to any character / team.
  • Top Three is 3 out 5 unless specified otherwise.
  • A day badge for that tournament day or full weekend badge to Taiyou Con is required in order to partake in TCR.
  • Top three prize will be paid out as 60/30/10
  • All games will be played on the default settings, unless otherwise specified in specific game rules.
  • All Macros available via in-game controller configuration menu are allowed
  • Hardware programmable input entry, rapid-fire, or other hardware assisted mechanisms are strictly forbidden.
  • Accidentally pausing the game at any time during the fight will force you to forfeit the round.
  • Any player using “random select” to pick their character, must use “random Select” again if they win the match, provided that there is no way to pick a certain character in the random box.
  • You must provide your own controller for games played on all systems unless stated otherwise.
  • Brook Converters are allowed.
  • Cronus Max Plus and Titan One converters are banned.
  • Nintendo 3DS, 2DS, or WiiU gamepad as gamepads are not allowed.
  • Removing the battery or otherwise disabling these controllers is NOT OK. You may not use these controllers under any circumstances.
  • There is a maximum of 30 seconds allowed between games in a set.

  • Game Settings: Versus Mode, 2 / 3 Rounds, 2 / 3 Games 3 / 5 for top 3
  • Additional Rules:
    • Colors 20-23 are banned from tournament play,
    • If players can not agree on a stage within 15 seconds, random stage select will happen

Taiyou Con Rumble 2019 Street Fighter 5

  • Game Version: US PlayStation 4
  • Game Settings: Versus Mode, 99 Seconds, 2 / 3 rounds, 2 /3 games, No Handicap
  • Additional Rules:
    • Legacy Controller mode is banned. Skies of Honor, Flamenco Tavern, and Kanzuki Beach stages are not tournament legal.

 

Taiyou Con Rumble 2019 Super Smash Bros

  • Please note these rules may change upon release of the game. Current rules are modeled after Super Smash Bros Wii U
  • Game Version: US Nintendo Switch
  • Game Settings: 3 Stock, 7 Minutes, Handicap: OFF Team Attack: ON Damage Ratio: 1.0x Items: Off and None Final Smash Meter: OFF Custom Balance: OFF Pause: OFF Stage Hazards: OFF Mii Fighters 1,1,1,1 Amiibo’s are banned.
  • Additional Rules:
    • STARTER STAGES
    • Battlefield* Final Destination** Town & City Smashville Pokemon Stadium 2
    • On Counterpick, any version Battlefield may be used, so long as it was not banned by the opponent. This includes Yoshi’s Story (Melee) and Fountain of Dreams. ** On Counterpick, any version of Final Destination may be used, so long as it was not banned by the opponent
    • COUNTER PICKS
    • Castle Siege Fountain of Dreams Yoshi’s Story (Melee) Yoshi’s Island (Brawl) Kalos League Frigate Orpheon
    • First stage is decided by (Rock Paper Scissors) best of 1. Winner may choose to either strike a stage first or select a port first. Stages are struck in a P1-P2-P2-P1 order.
    • Following stages decided by winner striking one stage from all stages and then loser choosing.
    • Winning player is not locked into the same character for the next match, but has to pick before loser selects character.
    • You may not pick the last stage you have previously won on during the set unless mutually agreed to.
    • You may not play on a stage that is not on the available stages list. This will result in a double disqualification.
    • If a game ends with a self-destruct move, the results screen will determine the winner.
    • Sudden Death with tied percentage/stock will result in a 1 stock/3 minutes playoff match.
    • There will be no loading anything on to the tournament consoles.

 

Taiyou Con Rumble 2019 Tekken 7

  • Game Version: US PlayStation 4
  • Game Settings: 3 rounds, 2 / 3 games until top eight, 60 seconds.
  • Additional Rules :
    • If players can not agree on sides then they will do a best of one rock-paper-scissors to determine sides. The winner selects a side first.
    • Loser may select to change stage.
    • Double Blind Character Selection is available upon request
    • There will be no customizing colors, names or items at any time before or during a tournament match. Any player that does so will be given a loss.
